The company
The company was founded in late 2006 by a group of entrepreneurs and researchers at the University of Palermo in order to develop innovative materials and technologies in industry and is currently in the process of evaluation as academic spin-off.Idea is proposed as an integrator between the research system and the economic and industrial Sicily. In particular, the company has expertise in managing complex projects of research and development, the design of electromechanical devices and, thanks to the team of professors from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Management, Computer and Mechanical Engineering, University of Palermo, has specific know-how in engineering materials and their processes.
Idea is developing a network of innovation-oriented enterprises particularly how it intends to address, in a coordinated, innovative markets determined by the conversion process of economic activities into a model based on environmental sustainability. In that context has a particular emphasis on solar energy on which the Idea is supporting a process of aggregation in the Mechatronics Production District.The innovative activity in the field of bioplastics is evidenced by the recent presentation of a patent application for a biocompatible support system for the planting of plant organisms in marine environments developed in collaboration with the Biosurvey Ltd, a spin-off of the University of Palermo, which has already received a positive evaluation report.
Through the purchase of a branch of business, Idea has entered the field of automotive production, and currently produces in a factory of 1,500 sq m site in the industrial area of ??Termini Imerese, near Palermo, aesthetic components for the FIAT Termini Imerese, waiting to market the results of the research enabled. It is expected, in this sense, the next conversion plant in a multi-laboratory facilities for industrial research and high technology manufacturing.
The company, at its plant has injection molding machines in the range between 65 and 860 tonnes and is capable of printing in thermoplastic objects of various shapes and sizes in air-molding.The company also has a workshop for the lavorazionemeccanica and molds, including large, fully equipped with CNC machining centers and advanced design and solid modeling.The presence of a laboratory for quality control of raw materials and finished products can operate within specific and stringent standards.
